Do as I say not do as I do...

I wanted to know what was going on with everybody but didn't really say anything about myself. (I'm much better in person..I think, anyways) Tim bought me a new car on my birthday, a Nissan Sentra. It is so cute. It's silver and I love it so much. Why? cause I can never lock my keys in the car. It has this thing where you don't put the key in the door or in the car to make it start so the keys are always in my purse. Hello lifesaver! And it doesn't kill me or should I say Tim on gas. And on this little screen it tells me when it's going to run out of gas. Can you tell it doesn't take a lot to make me happy. I get to use my camera to shot some of my mom jewelry. I'm totally stoked! She is going to put it on some website call etsy.com. It's really cool if you ever get a chance to check it out. The site is for people who design stuff and it's all handmade. I think, don't quote me on that. Anyway Tim and I are going to try to go see Garth Brooks after the first of the year. Now that almost makes me wet my pants. I love Garth Brooks and I was totally bummed when I heard that he was putting on the nine shows in Kansas City MO, which by the way is the city I wanted to move to 2 years ago but I'm not bitter no not at all. His shows sold out in an hour all nine show and people were there from freakin Ireland. On to other things Tim's cat is still weird, my dog is still out of control and the fish Megan gave me before she left are still alive. Tim's business is just what we need and we are thankful. Besides all that everything is going good and I'm starting to go "stir-crazy" to put up my Christmas stuff. Oh what started this whole blog thing my wonderful turquoise refrigerator died, that is odd but true. Love Angela

Who know that these birds where so pretty?

Ok that's it I've gotta go back to LA

If you go to the link "The very few reasons I like LA" They have an article about the Palace Theater. This building is so cool I have a picture of this building in my bedroom. Why do I love it so much? Above the marquee sign there is this light that is the shape of a round globe with a fairy standing on top of it.

The Eastern

The Eastern Columbia Building, designed by Claud Beelman, opened on September 12, 1930, after just nine short months of construction. It was built as the new headquarters of the Eastern Outfitting Company and the Columbia Outfitting Company, furniture and clothing stores. With the construction of this lavish structure, the companies could also boast one of the largest buildings constructed in downtown until after WWII.

Located in the Broadway Theater and Commercial District, the Eastern Columbia Building is thirteen stories high. It is built of steel reinforced concrete and clad in glossy turquoise terra cotta trimmed with deep blue and gold terra cotta.

The building's vertical emphasis is accentuated by deeply recessed bands of paired windows and spandrels with copper panels separated by vertical columns. The façade is decorated with a wealth of motifs - sunburst patters, geometric shapes, zigzags, chevrons and stylized animal and plant forms. The building is capped with a four-sided clock tower emblazoned with the name Eastern in neon and crowned with a central smokestack surrounded by four stylized flying buttresses.

The sidewalks surrounding the Broadway and Ninth Street sides of the building are of multi-colored terrazzo laid in dynamic pattern of zigzags and chevrons. The central main entrance has a spectacular recessed two-story vestibule adorned with a blue and gold terra cotta sunburst. The vestibule originally led to a pedestrian retail arcade running through the center of the building.

This downtown landmark recently underwent a $30 million conversion in 2006 into 140 luxury condominiums.

This is beautiful to me.

We all know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but what do you believe to be beautiful?

Ever since I can remember my mother, who is the smartest and to me the most beautiful person I know has influenced what I believe to be beautiful. As I grew up my mom always tried to show me to look at things in a different way. I know that she has taught me to love architecture! As a small child she would let my flip through all her art books and ask me " Do you like this? What do you think about this?" My favorites books were about Alphonse Mucha, Maxfield Parish and of course Frank Lloyd Wright. I flipped through these books over and over and over again. And I know it directed me in a path to really look at things in a way most don't really understand. My husband works in Santa Barbara every other weekend and this past summer I would go down there and help him. One day when he was driving downtown I shouted "Do you see that?, that lamp, that's so cool! Of course he saw it but didn't understand why I loved it so much. " Are you kidding me that lamp was shaped to come out to look like the plant Bird of Paradise!" My excitement was wasted on my husband who look at me like I had lost my mind. And just recently I sat down with some friends and watched the movie Transformers, I really didn't like the movie until I noticed one of my favorite buildings in downtown LA. I perked up and was like "This was shot downtown and there is the Eastern Building I love that building!" (if you have never seen it look it up, I have a few pics but it is so awesome) This winter I started studying architecture mainly so I'm not one of those people who say "Oh I love architecture" but know nothing about it. All I can say is I was totally blown away. Little did I know how much I really didn't know. Most of the facts would be totally worthless to most people but when you don't just look at the style as an overall look but as a history lesson there is so much more to learn.

Ok, so I have no idea what I'm doing

I got this great idea to do a blog, and now I can't recall why I thought it would be a good idea. I need some serious help. I should never do stuff I think up in the middle of the night.
